G.V. Prakash Kumar is an Indian soundtrack composer, film scorer and singer. Oscar hero A. R. Rahman is the uncle of G.V. Prakash Kumar. He started his career as a vocalist. He became popular in the year 2010. He is commonly called as G.V by his friends. His family is basically a Musical family so from the childhood he has the passion to become music composer. He launched his own production banner named GV Prakash Kumar Productions in 2013.

G.V. Prakash Kumar was born on June 13, 1987. His father name is Venkatesh and his mother name is A. R. Reihana who is the elder sister of music director A. R. Rahman. He married his childhood friend Saindhavi who is a singer. They studied together in Chettinad Vidyashram and they got married on June 27, 2013 in Chennai.

G.V. Prakash Kumar made his debut as a vocalist Tamil film Gentleman which was composed by his uncle A. R. Rahman. He has worked in some projects along with Rahman. In 2004, G.V made his debut as a music director in the film Pakka Thirudan which is directed by Thyagarajan starring Prashanth. The film was a failure and he composed for next film Arun Weds Harini which also a failure. G.V then signed to work in the film Veyil which is a massive hit in 2006. His next film is Oram Po and Kireedom which was average success in 2006.

















In 2009, his film Angaadi Theru is very successful. His next film is Madrasapattinam which was a huge box office hit. His music in the film was very much treasured. G. V’s next film Aadukalam in which he sang a song Yathe Yathe and Deiva Thirumagal in 2010 and 2011 was box office hit. His next film Mayakkam Enna, a Selvaraghavan film was appreciated. In the film the song Pirai Thedum was sung by himself with Saindhavi. Later he composed songs in the film Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal in 2011 was successful and a song Oru Murai is a very stylish song and it was very famous. His next film Saguni which was an average hit was appreciated by music. In 2012, his films Thaandavam, Paradesi and Naan Rajavaga Pogiren are average success and he composed music for the films such as Annakodi, Udhayam NH4, Thalaivaa in 2013. His upcoming films are Raja Rani, JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai and Nimirndhu Nil. He simultaneously worked in Telugu, Hindi films, Malayalam and Kannada films. He composed for most of the Telugu films dubbed from Tamil film.

He had won the Best Music Director Award for the films Aadukalam, Madarasapattinam and Deiva Thirumagal by Vijay Awards, Mirchi Music Awards and Vijay Music Awards. His song Uyirin Uyire from the film Thaandavam was awarded as the Best Regional Video by MTV VMAI Awards. The song Pookal Pookum Tharunam from Madarasapattinam was awarded as the Best song of the year in 2010 by Mirchi Music Awards. His song Yathe Yathe song was awarded as the Best song sung by music director in 2011 by Vijay Awards.
